The cardboard compactor baler is a specialized waste recycling machine. It uses hydraulic power to compress loose cardboard waste into tight bales, which are then secured with strapping. This facilitates storage, transportation, and recycling. The cardboard baling press is equipped with core components such as a compression chamber, hydraulic drive system, press plate, and baling mechanism. It can handle various types of cardboard waste, including corrugated cardboard (OCC), cardboard scraps, and packaging cardboard.
How does Cardboard Compactor Baler work?
The working process of a cardboard compactor baler is simple and efficient, typically involving four key steps:
- Feeding: Loose cardboard waste is fed into the compression chamber manually or automatically. For large-scale operations, horizontal cardboard baler is equipped with conveyor belts for continuous feeding.
- Compression: A hydraulic cylinder, driven by a power system, applies high pressure to the cardboard in the compression chamber. It utilizes the hydraulic cylinder to generate hundreds of tons of pressure, compressing the loose cardboard into dense blocks. The volume reduction rate of waste cardboard can reach 85%-90%.
- Baling: After the cardboard is compressed to a preset density and size, a manual or automatic strapping mechanism tightly binds the compressed cardboard blocks.
- Discharge: Once baling is complete, the bales are automatically or manually ejected from the compression chamber. The finished bales are usually cubic or rectangular in shape, with standardized dimensions and weight. This facilitates the stacking, storage, loading, and transportation of the cardboard.
Main Types of Cardboard Recycling Balers
The two most common types of cardboard recycling balers are small vertical cardboard balers and horizontal cardboard balers.

Small Vertical Cardboard Baler
Vertical cardboard baler machine is characterized by vertical compression, a compact structure, and a small footprint. It is ideal for small to medium-sized businesses with limited space, such as retail stores, offices, small warehouses, and grocery stores.
Vertical cardboard compactor balers are typically semi-automatic. They feature manual feeding, automatic compression, and baling. Bale weights range from 50 kg to 200 kg.
Horizontal Cardboard Baler

Horizontal baler is designed for large-scale, high-volume cardboard waste processing. It utilizes horizontal compression and equipped with automatic feeding, compression, baling, and discharge systems.
Horizontal balers have larger compression chambers and higher pressure, capable of producing bales weighing from 200 kg to 1000 kg or more. They are suitable for large warehouses, distribution centers, printing plants, and paper mills that generate large quantities of cardboard waste daily.
